Breathwork for Self-love replay
This is the recording of our Womxn's Breathwork session for Self-love from the 19th of April 2021.
The music that I use with artists' permission is:
Irina Röjås "Skapa i mig Gud" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEre47ceGMM
& Josef Bel Habib "Are there Angels"
Before you do this practice:
Find a safe and quiet space that you can be in for the duration of this practice. Even though this is a recording, the healing power of these short practices can be quite powerful. So I advise you to treat it as you would when joining live: Turn off your phone, set up a nice space for yourself, have some blankets, water, and maybe paper and pen for journaling afterward with you.
Feel free to use this short (8 Min) playlist for your journaling practice afterward. Click here to get to the Spotify playlist.
Breathwork and self-care:
Breathwork is the most powerful healing tool I have encountered. That being said, it is a practice that can heal and also one that can bring up a LOT of what wants to be healed. Even just the 7-12 Min of active breathing can actually be quite powerful. That is why I recommend you take some time to ground, dance, or just take it easy after our circles.
The type of Breathwork we practice (as it was taught to me by Erin Telford and David Elliot) is an active breathing technique, which will activate your sympathetic nervous system at first so you can move and release any stuck emotion and traumatic energy you hold. After the active breathing, your parasympathetic nervous system will be activated. There, you will rest and receive intuitive wisdom. You will breathe in and out through the mouth.
If you have asthma, it can be a good idea to have your inhaler next to you. If you’re menstruating, prolonging the breathing out might feel good for you. If you are pregnant, you still may want to take it easier by, for example, breathing in and out through the nose or prolonging your breath rhythm. Trust your body. When it needs to take a break, take one! You will not be pushed at any point in these events to go against your embodied limits. If you have any medical concerns, please contact your doctor.
